…for the Winged Messenger…
Back in the dark ages of 2016, I entered into a ritual devotion and wrote 21 odes, one per day, while the planet Mercury was in “retrograde” mode — a period where the planet appears to be navigating backwards in orbit. The following can be read stand-alone or in sequence, and contain musings on the mercurial nature of that mythological figure, Mercury themselves, who acts as a guide for those crossing over into the nether realms (as well as guardian of crossroads themselves). They also invoke the spirits of 21 dead people, that appeared to me in some form or another, often via an obituary of someone I had never known of previously, of usually lesser-known fame, or through some other random chance I encountered their seeming ghost. Some of these dead souls still haunt me, in one form or another, so I offer up my writings in honor of their being, and what they communicated to me, from the seeming beyond.
